Before Jiu-Jitsu became a sport, it was a martial art based on the principals of respect, hierarchy, discipline, self-control, self-confidence, patience and many others.
I, along with a majority of my extended family, have spent the better part of our lives learning, developing, and teaching our brand of self-defense. The Charles Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy offers you, the student, an opportunity to learn the art and benefit from the knowledge gained from many years of dedicated training and teaching.
We are serious about our craft and it is from my family’s pride that we develop our students into highly skilled fighters and self-defense practitioners. The academy is run with a family-like atmosphere. Our camaraderie extends from lessons, to sparring sessions, to team tournaments and friendships.
Classes at the academy are taught six days a week and we have classes for men, women and children. They feature a strength and endurance building warm-up, followed by demonstration and practice of techniques after which students engage in live wrestling with other students of their own level. It is a truly demanding workout with a strongly cerebral aspect and a sense of purpose and skill that will truly capture your imagination. In our programs, students learn the following techniques: Take downs, throws, submission holds and chokes, weapons defense and retention, stand up and ground fighting, kicking and punching, fitness, conditioning, and more.
Instruction is open to men, women and children, regardless of physical condition, age, or past experience. The training we provide will surely help practitioners improve their physical condition and fighting skills. Furthermore, the training will alson help every student develop self confidence and personal discipline.
There is a no doubt that Jiu-Jitsu when practiced and taught with its true principles, bring about physical, mental and spiritual benefits. At the academy we seek to help our students develop on and off the mat.
